Firefighters currently do not have enough information to help keep them safe and productive. They do not have any access to information such as compass heading, external temperature, or even localized radio communication with other nearby units. Additionally, over half of the deaths and injuries in the field are caused by stressing the human body past its limits, with over 1,140,750 firefighters affected, and 63,500 injuries per year. The solution consists of a heads-up display and data monitor that will track and display important data to the firefighters in hazardous and unknown conditions. FireHUD will assist firefighters in staying within the limits of their bodies thus preventing overexertion and cardiac arrest.
